 About Us

WebSuburb was started in 2005. WebSuburb provides internet-related services tailored to not-for-profit organisations and SMEs.

At WebSuburb, we are raving fans of small organisations. After all, we’re a small business ourselves! Always on the lookout for innovative ways to apply efficiency. To bring economies of scale enjoyed by big business to smaller organisations.

The internet delivers amazing benefits to all sorts of organisations. Often it’s not as easy as the technology experts make it out to be.

We tried several times to build our own interactive websites, but without significant success, and the process wasn’t easy. We knew what we wanted, and what we believed most small businesses wanted and needed, but we just couldn’t “figure it out”.

In July 2005, we came across the DotNetNuke Content Management System. After a fair amount of research (and trial and error), we managed to get a website up and running. We realised that this software had a number of things going for it. However, it could be improved with customised modules created by non-IT gurus and needed a slightly more commercial focus.

So we concentrated our efforts on developing the training manuals and modules requested by our real-world clients. These modules also had to be useful to us in our business.

 Our Philosophies

We aim to reflect our philosophies in our daily business practices, and pass them on to all our WebSuburb licensees.

Our mission: “hard results from software”. We lead our clients to achieve more from internet software solutions.

This is what the mission means to us:

Leading by example, only recommending and deploying solutions that we are prepared to use ourselves.

Achieving more means reducing input costs, quicker results, less time, increasing outputs, improving results or a combination of these.

Software because this enables processes to be systemised and the internet because it is a fast and efficient communication infrastructure.

Vision: to build a connected community of websites for non-profit organisations, local business and WebSuburb licensees and experts.

The vision is interpreted like this:

Community – we want to make the community that we live and work in a better place.

Connected - to promote interaction and communication.

Local licensees that live and work in the area and are able to meet face to face.

All types of organisations including clubs, charities, school parent and community (P & C) groups, church groups and local business.

Experts - we have a team of skilled people to help and lead our clients to better results

Values: We believe in ethical business practices. Honesty, respect and providing value-for-money products and services that help build the communities we live in are important.

WebSuburb is a division of FIO Consulting PTY Ltd (‘Figure It Out’). FIO [ABN 51 088 681 252] was incorporated in 1997 by Trevor Mills and John Allan. FIO provides management consulting services in the areas of IT and finance. FIO has a select number of clients including multinational and Australian companies. Clients are in a wide variety of industries. From defence, insurance, recruitment, real estate, agriculture, manufacturing to importing and distribution.

The founders of the business, Trevor Mills and John Allan originally qualified in accounting and finance. They gained extensive experience managing IT departments and executing IT-related projects over a number of years from the early 1990s.

FIO was founded to provide this expertise to select clients where the founders felt they could make a difference.

A prime objective for FIO when taking on a new project is to make the payback period for the client as short as possible. Most projects undertaken have had a payback period of less than 12 months. The fastest payback period was 5-6 weeks and saves our client about $75,000 pa. This equates to a ROI of about 1,000% pa. Our client also enjoys other benefits. These include of improved quality of service, enhanced integrity of information and timely completion of the monthly business process.

Therefore when we undertake a new project for a client in WebSuburb we try to continue this pattern of getting the project to pay for itself in under 12 months. i.e. Return on investment greater than 100% within 12 months. The payback period is measured in terms of increased sales referrals, lower costs and a notional value attached to improved communication with clients and potential clients.
